Neuro Allies | Neuroaffirming Evaluations & Advocacy in Burnsville, MN

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are asking this question, it’s often worth exploring. Neuro Allies believes that everyone would benefit from learning about their profile of strengths and challenges. You may be noticing your child is struggling with focusing, learning, feeling nervous, regulating their emotions, or navigating social interactions. Sometimes, schools raise concerns, and other times, parents just have a feeling that something isn’t clicking the way it should. An evaluation can provide clarity, helping you understand why your child is struggling and what supports may help.

Neuro Allies is built around walking alongside families, not just delivering a report. Neuro Allies brings both clinical and school-based expertise, which allows us to bridge the gap between understanding your child and actually getting them the support they need in real-world settings. I complete all of my own testing with clients, and reports are completed by the feedback date. This work is deeply personal to me, and I approach every evaluation with genuine care and dedication.

At Neuro Allies, this isn’t just a buzz word. This is a philosophical value that drives our services. Neuroaffirming care is an approach that views neurodevelopmental differences as natural variations in human functioning. Neuroaffirming evaluations emphasize understanding an individual’s strengths and needs, reducing barriers, and providing supports that align with how they learn and experience the world. The goal is not to “fix” your child; the goal is to understand and alter the environment around them to facilitate happiness and success. Many challenges come from a mismatch between how a child’s brain works and the environment they’re in, and the environment is something we can change.

Dr. Kincade primarily works with children and adolescents (ages 5-18), but also works with college-age young adults. Neuro Allies’ focus is primarily on neurodiversity (e.g., autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder [ADHD], learning disorders, intellectual disorders) and mental health (e.g., anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma). Neuro Allies does not complete court-ordered evaluations, custody evaluations, or forensic evaluations. If you are unsure whether your child is a good fit for services at Neuro Allies, please reach out and ask!

Most evaluations take place over a few appointments, with the full process (including the report) typically completed within a few weeks. Reports are completed by the feedback session, so you will not be waiting weeks or months for your final report.

You don’t have to figure it out alone. We’ll go over the results together, and we’ll help you understand how to use the recommendations at home, in school, and in other settings. Ongoing consultation and advocacy support are also available if you need continued guidance.

Although schools make the final decision as a team, outside private evaluations can strongly inform that process. Neuro Allies also offers advocacy support to help families navigate the school system and ensure recommendations are understood and considered.

Neuro Allies can support families in preparing for meetings and, in some cases, attend or consult as part of advocacy services if desired.

Neuro Allies will eventually offer a hybrid model, which may include both private pay and insurance options depending on the service. If you are planning to use insurance, we can discuss what that process looks like and what may be covered. At this point in time, Neuro Allies is still getting credentialed with insurance companies.

Contact Neuro Allies to schedule a free consultation. I look forward to working with you!
